It was the first day of summer in Los Angeles, California, and Lily Rose didn’t quit know how to welcome summer in with her friends. Should they go to the community pool? Go on a hike? Go shopping for a new bikini? The possibilities are endless! Lily and her friends decided to go online and look for new, free, ideas on what to do on this sunny day. They stumbled upon a website called geocache.com and they were intriuged. When they clicked onto the site, they found out that there are millions of geocaches around the world and many in their neighborhood. But what is it? Geocaching is a modern day treasure hunt, where anyone can hide their “treasure”, and then others can find it. On the website or app, you will enter in a zip code or address, and then it will give you clues and directions to geocaches near you.
Lily and her friends Madison, Emma, and Emily found a geocache that was right near the Hollywood Sign. That sounded especially interesting to the girls because even though they lived in LA all their lives, they have never been to the Hollywood Sign! So the girls got all their things, and had Emma’s mom drive them to the sign.
When they got there, the clues told them to first go to the big palm tree west of the the parking lot, and then take the trail directly behind it. This geocache was pretty easy because you just had to follow the trail and enjoy the veiw most of the hunt. As they went on the trail discussed what they wanted for lunch after. They decided on In-n-out because they all wanted a burger, fries, and milkshake.
As soon as they knew it, they were at the Hollywood sign! Talking about food must have just made the walk go by so fast! But where was the cache? They looked at the website and it said to go to the second L and dig 2 feet deep into the ground. How would they have known to bring a shovel? they were about to give up and just go to In- n-out for lunch, but when they turned around, a shovel was right there. The person who created the cache must have known that people don’t just carry shovels around everyday. The girls took turns shoveling and soon found the geocache!

When they opened the box to see what was inside, four annual Disneyland passes were inside! This geocache was definetly worth it. When the girls got back to the car, they decided instead of going to plain old In-n-out, they should go have lunch at Disneyland with their new Disneyland passes and ride a few rides. The girls had so much fun that summer with their disneyland passes and their new found love for geocaching! When they got back to school in August, they told alllll their friends about geocaching, and soon their whole school was going on geocache adventures together. Geocaching is so much fun and they would recomend it to anyone they meet!!!
