Geocaching

Student Response
For our Adventure Club we have many hobbies and other things that we love to do. One of those things is geocaching. Personally it is my favorite out of all the things we do. It allows you to get out in the world and see what is really out there. As a plus, there is always some interesting trinket in the cache or the place the cache is located out could just be stunning.
I remember very fondly of my first and favorite find with our Adventure Club geocaching. I remember that it was the Fourth of July and everyone was ecstatic for fireworks later that night. Our Adventure Club held a special barbecue for the whole town in the town park. Our higher leaders of the Adventure Club decided to put together a geocache for all of us members to try and find before dark.
The rules were quite simple. Rule number one is that we can only use a GPS until we got inside of a 100 meter radius. Rule number two was, well whatever who cares about rules anyway? I didn’t really listen at all to rules. So then at noon we set of too see who would get to the cache first.
We went through all through town looking for the cache, which from what I was told would be called a urban cache, since it’s in town. The sun was starting to set and I was getting a little bummed since I was told some people had already found the geocache and the special Fourth of July themed trinkets. But at that moment I got an alert from my GPS that I was within 100 meters.
I was ecstatic. So I frantically just put away my GPS and head straight into the field I saw across the street from me. The field was freshly cut, but the middle seemed odd. Tall grass stood still just as if it couldn’t be touched. Then it hit me. I bolted towards the tall patch of grass and found right inside of that patch of grass the cache. I was told that when I find it, to fill out the logbook and take one trinket out. I then found out that I was the fourth person to find the cache. Ironic, I think not.
It was still sunset so us who had found the cache waited in the field till everyone else had arrived. About an hour later, everyone had arrived and dark had fallen. But there was a surprise. The town committee decided to hold a firework show for us all. It was the most spectacular firework show I had ever saw in my whole entire life!
I recommend that people explore the fun activity of geocaching. It provides you of a very fun hobby and lets you get out and see the world. The best part? You can join us at the Adventure Club and have a great experience with geocaching just like I did. Who knows, it could become your hobby too.
